On October 22 of this year Microsoft has released yet another version of its Windows operating system.
So what does Windows 7 offer that Vista didn’t?
The answer is quite simple: Windows 7 is a stable, robust and responsive OS with many improvements over Vista. In short –Windows 7 is what Vista should have been.
Windows 7, brings a whole new set of options and experience. But for those who use previous versions who are thinking about upgrading need to be aware that if you’re using Windows Vista, XP or 2000, that Windows 7 needs to have a clean install. It means that if you plan to upgrade to Windows 7, you must first back-up all your files, then place the Windows 7 CD in your disc drive and perform a clean install and then re-install all your applications and data you’ve backed up.

So is Windows 7 worth buying? In our opinion: yes, however it would be wise to wait until the new year when there are more people who tried it and shared their experience.
How does Lanos see windows 7? With previous failure of Windows Vista, Lanos are cautious until operating system full test has been completed. However at the moment we can offer our customers the following:

Microsoft are due to introduce the new Office 2010 in summer of the coming year.Here at Lanos are we are now in the testing stage of Microsoft office 2010.
With testing done so far we can confirm that the new version of Office is more robust and neat in comparison to all the previous versions. However we noticed that it may not work with some existing add-ins: e.g. Antivirus add-ins, Salesforce add-in and some others.
We really liked the new Outlook 2010, and decided to share it with you.

Upgrade of cloud hosting platform.
We are currently researching the stability and robustness of the new hosting platform. This will provide our customers with faster Web- and Email-hosting services after transition.

Exchange 2010 and unified communications platform.
This system will improve existing features for Hosted-email customers and will accommodate Apple’s Snow Leopard default mail client, without the need of Microsoft Entourage. Also for the customers who use Virtual PBX facilities this will also mean integration of their emails with their voicemails. More on this in upcoming monthly newsletters.
Approximate implementation date: 2nd quarter of 2010.
The updated website will have customer oriented facilities and better look. Improved look and functionality will enable you to access your invoices, services settings, contact and newsletter preferences.
